Super Bowl LX: Seattle Wins It All
Well, it was certainly a game. The Seattle Seahawks don’t care how they did it, but they did it. They now have their second Super Bowl. Sam Darnold has made a comeback of all comebacks, and there has grown a new appreciation for Jason Myers.
Offense was not a big thing in this Super Bowl. In fact, most of the points came from Myers, the kicker, as he had five field goals which equates to 15 points. However, the fourth quarter did see a small surge in offense. Overall though, Darnold threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, but it was Kenneth Walker III who won Super Bowl MVP. He rushed for 135 yards. Cooper Kupp was the star in the receiving game with six receptions for 61 yards and AJ Barner had four receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Seattle registered six sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. An absolutely dominate performance. Derick Hall and Byron Murphy II both had two sacks in the game and Murphy also had the fumble recovery for a touchdown. It could be argued that Murphy II was the runner up for MVP. Also, Seattle hit Drake Maye 11 times in the game. The New England offensive line just had no answers.
The Patriots could not get any kind of run game going. Maye had the most rushing yards with 37. As for Maye, he had a rough day but still threw for 295 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had a fumble that resulted in a Seattle score. Mack Hollins had four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown and Rhamondre Stevenson had five receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Patriots only got one sack on Darnold in the game, and only hit him six times. A stark contrast compared to the Seattle defense. They also got no turnovers against the Seahawks and that is perhaps the story of the game. The Seahawks defense just had the Patriots number, as the Patriots struggled to even get first downs for most of the game. The Patriots tried to get a late push going in the fourth quarter, but at that point it was too late.
And with that, an incredible year of football is over, but it all starts up again with the UFL in late March. See you then (unless you’re also here for other sports.)
